BUILDERS ENGAGED
As you all know, the Port Esperance Sailing Club has been promised State Government funds to help complete the club build. The committee has undertaken the thorough and detailed process of sourcing quotes from builders in Southern Tasmania. The quotes received were of high quality and comparable in terms of cost. Time and delivery was one of the major factors that has influenced the selection of our builder. With much consideration, the PESC committee has chosen to engage Cygnet Brand Construction as our preferred builder for the project.
Building approval has been granted from the Huon Valley Council and we look forward to seeing the clubhouse build get underway soon!
Our thanks and gratitude go to the businesses who put so much time and effort into preparing the quotes for our rebuild.
FUNDING
Due to huge demand in the building industry and rapidly rising costs of building materials in recent months, the price we have been quoted for rebuilding our clubhouse is significantly higher than the original cost estimate by the quantity surveyor.
This means we have a funding shortfall at present. However, our committee is confident that we will overcome the hurdles and we are exploring several options (and combinations of these) in detail, including:
– staged build in collaboration with the chosen builder
– major sponsorship from Tasmanian firms
– further funding opportunities through State and Federal goverments
We are grateful to the Huon Valley Council and to State Growth for their support and assistance in seeking funding mechanisms to provide the shortfall.
